The Carthusian Monastery of Calci, founded in 1366, is one of the most important Carthusian monasteries in Italy and is a monument of great importance in the green Val Graziosa. The austere primitive Certosa, after the sanctification of Bruno (1623), was revamped and turned into the magnificent baroque residence that we admire today, rich in frescoes, sumptuous marble, delicate stucco and precious furnishings.
The west wing of the Certosa houses the Museum of Natural History and the area treated by University of Pisa.
